Picked up this masterpiece last week.
The 38mm Master Ultra-Thin with the amazing Cal 849 which is hand finished and one of the best deployant buckles ever made. IMO.
I did previously own one of these a few years ago and always regretted selling it. Ive had a number of Rolex’s, Longines, Seiko’s, Omegas in-between and none of them felt anything close to the quality of this.
You can get these for a steal. I don’t mind saying I pick up this 2014 example in pristine condition with B&P, serviced in 2025, and a 2yr warranty for £3500, even coming with a brand new JLC strap, which I think is a bargain and there are plenty of them around if you want a top tier brand, interesting and ultra luxurious watch

Yeah this particular JLC is a serious contender, in my view, for the single classiest, most tasteful watch one can buy. I think I prefer it to the other contenders from Lange, Patek and VC (e.g.) that cost several times more.

I think I agree. The Saxonia thin would be lovely but would be 4x this JLC for a similar yr model. I know it’s precious metal but is it 4x the watch?
I don’t think so.
Same for the Patek calatravas and VC traditionals

I owned a Traditionelle small seconds for a little while. Stunning watch, front and back, and fit like it was made for my wrist. But I couldn’t justify having that much money tied up in a watch (white gold or not). The JLC gives you holy trinity quality (imo) and design—from the brand that made holy trinity movements, after all—at prices that are still very luxury but not as eye watering. They’re just great watches—there’s no bs or marketing hype about them.

Let’s hope they keep doing what they’ve been doing.

That’s it. Unless you are a top 1% earner where £25k minimum is fine, and isn’t even fractionally anxiety inducing in any way. Which isn’t the case for virtually everyone. Then these JLCs offer I think the absolute best option in terms of quality, design, history and value. Yes of course £3.5k is still a descent amount of cash but for many in a sound financial place, it is absolutely fine. And importantly it’s already taken all the depreciation over the last 10years so will hold value.

And you have the perfect dog sir…..😁
His name was Banzai and he passed over the bridge at 16 back in 2017. He was indeed my “mini me” … a great dog, superb hunter, all around great companion, up for anything. Our current Shiba is Nala. Here she is staring at prairie dogs out at Devils Tower a few years back. She’s a bit more reserved, more of a homebody but loves the outdoors.

I had two last go round. I rescued and had fosters. At one point I had five including my dogs in the house … pandemonium! They are addictive.

I know. A hidden treasure in plain sight that no one pays much attention to. The deployant is so well thought out, it’s sturdy but unobtrusive and feels like it’s not there. I e got it on as I write this
