Omega Globemaster Modern Omega Faux Pas?

After being enthralled by the Omega Dog Leg Pie Pan Constellation, I stopped by my Omega Boutique (new one opened near me!) and fell in love with the Omega Globemaster. It had everthing I was looking for, except it looked a touch too "sharp" if you get what I mean?

Then by serendipity, I found a "head only" version of the exact one I wanted at my local pawn! It was gently used and some light marks of prior ownership. So...faux pas aside, I decided to take a light "cape cod" polish for the light scratches and small dings. Then it warmed up! Now I feel it's exactly how luxurious I want, with the soft glow of a dressier watch on Alligator. It wears smaller than the bracelet, which I also wanted, but a lot bigger than my vintage Pie Pan.

So the question is using "cape cod" polish also a no-no on modern watches? Did I detract from the future value?
