路Dear Omega Forums,
Some of you might be aware that I have a couple of vintage Omegas.
Generally with my most special watches that I intend to keep I try to bring them back to their most original condition as possible.
This means I try to hunt for the correct crowns, buckles, boxes etc.
Here I have a nice 1959 Omega Geneve with cross hair dial. If I recall this is a 14702 case in SS. Carrying a calibre 552 movement.
Whilst the hands could probably do with a polish, and there is a slight blemish between the 2/3 o'clock the case is sharp and it's otherwise in very nice condition.
It does clearly however had a replacement crown. One which I think looks quite bulky on this model. Does anyone know the correct crown that this model should have or any details which could help me find the correct one say on ebay, which I would be able to swap this out with.
It also has the original crystal but sadly it has a very small crack I think near the 12, although in this photo I cannot see it. Do you think I should leave the cracked crystal in or replace?
Whilst I'm using a beads of rice bracelet, I have just purchased a seamaster that this will be moved to, and I'll be fitting this with a leather strap. What buckle should this model have been fitted with?
Finally, what kind of presentation box would this have been sold in? I've seen countless of the red Omega boxes that seem to be for sale on ebay everyday, would it have been one of these ones? Or something a little more special?
Thank you for all of your help as always,
