omega geneve 2748 jumbo with two tone waffle dial

i am thinking about purchasing this omega geneve and i have some concerns regarding the dial and price.
i am not sure whether the dial is original?
the price is 600€ is that fair?
the seller claims its a caliber 266, and the case is unpolished and the crown is original.
furthermore its an unknown service history.
if there is anything else i should be aware of feel free to mention it, it will be hugely appreciated.
i hope you guys can guide me

Nothing is jumping out at me, the watch looks legit at first glance. Of course, it's always good to see the movement if you are paying top dollar. My guess is that the seller will have trouble getting 600€ given the condition of the dial.

TBH, I think that the main issue is whether you will really enjoy the watch given the degradation of the dial. Or whether you would rather be patient and find a cleaner example.

It’s one of those watches - you either like it enough to buy it and wear it as it is, or you’re not happy with the dial discolouration or something else.

If the latter, walk away. If the former, then try and negotiate the price down. Good luck

that's a difficult question, i think its the average price similar watches sell for

Here’s a picture of the movement from when I sold it a few months ago. It has been sold twice since then, once here in the forum. I doubt the condition of the movement has changed much since then.

Yeah, not sure what happened there. I initially got it since my watchmaker said he’d have a NOS dial. Turned out to be for a different ref, though, so I passed it on - and somehow, none of the new owners seemed to consider it a keeper. It ran well and the pictures realistically depict how it looks. For my eye, it was too damaged, but that’s a personal opinion.

The lugs still have their facets which is rare for these early Geneves. Most of them have been polished to death. Personally,I think that they are beautiful watches. Yes, the dial shows some degradation, but if MtV owned it in the not distant past, that would be good enough for me. If the dial doesn't bother you, I would make an offer and see if the seller will negotiate.

I think it’s not only my decision (as the seller) to disclose that, but let’s say it wasn’t significantly less. Also, you got very good feedback from others here regarding the price, that’s the most important information I suppose.

I think the points made about whether you will enjoy the watch or not, given the dial condition are excellent. I have had watches with poor dials that I thought I would enjoy, but now realize I much prefer watches with excellent original dials.
