    Hello friends,
I'm thinking about purchasing this piece from Craigslist in my local area. The seller is asking $475.00. This is the posters description. I'm looking to purchase my first Omega and wanted to start out on the low end of Omegas'. The price seems a little high to me especially since it doesn't include the box, original band and the lume is not working. Looking for the professional opinion from the members on this site for I am a beginner collector.

    Thank you,
    Wes

"Very good condition Omega Genève reference 166.041 from 1969. Movement is Caliber 565, 24 Jewel with quick-set date. Movement is clean and in good condition; runs well. Stainless steel case is 34mm and shows no signs of re-polish, acrylic crystal is very clear with no scratching. Silver sunray dial with applied indices, luminescent hands and hour markers (tritium, no longer glows). Dial is also T marked, and has 3 o'clock date window. Crown is signed. Original strap is missing but will come with a deBeer oiled leather strap and an unknown brand brown leather ralleye style strap. Lug width is 18mm, so there are thousands of aftermarket options available. Watch only, I do not have a box or any documentation".

Watch looks good from the single picture posted. Tritium that old won't glow. Boxes are rare with watches this old as well. Price is great if all is well.

Price is ok if it runs ok, a bit toppy if not since that is the entry level of its era and even if running perfectly is only ever worth maybe $500. Bear in mind a service is $200+ so it matters if it needs one or not.

Okay great thank you. I haven't contacted the seller yet. I'm going to see if he'll come off any on the price.

Mine is also 1969. Great watch, you can dress stainless steel up or down. The case design means it wears just that little bit bigger than the earlier 60s Geneves and the movement is incredibly reliable. I’m a huge fan!

Looking at your posted photo, I think the price quoted is fair.

It's clearly a matter of taste, but honestly this is one of my least favorite vintage Omega case designs. The condition looks good from that one photo.

Watch looks in fair condition, if you like the design it's a great entry in the world of vintage Omegas.

I contacted the seller via text and email but haven't received a response. I really appreciate the suggestions from everyone. I personally do like the style but it's by no means my favorite example of Omegas' beautiful watches. Being my first Omega purchase I think it will be a good place to start.
