Omega Extranet - help

Hi
Thx for the add, I'm a newbie. I was gifted an Omega from a friend with a lot of old watches. I believe it's a 90's speedmaster. I'm aware of an Omega Extranet that I can't access of course. Can someone with access help with info on the serial number? I plan to keep it, just want to know what I have here.

I have never opened a case back and was considering doing so just to see what's inside. Should I not do this?

I need to remove some links/pins on the bracelet. Should I not do this?

Thx in advance for your time.

Sure. It's a speedmaster automatic day date. I think it's a 3523.80.00 vs a 35231.80.00 based on an old link on omega's site.

Is there any point to getting the serial number put into the omega extranet? Is that how to tell if it's fake or not? If it is ok. I didn't pay for it.

All functions seem to work but the chrono seconds doesn't reset back to noon/31 position.

Thx for your help.

You need to open it to see the serial number. It appears here on the movement:

Use ilovemyspeedmaster.com to determine if the serial number matches the reference.

Without the correct tools or knowledge, you will likely scratch the watch trying to open it. It may need service including lubricants if it hasn't been serviced in five years, so you might as well takevit to a watchmaker.

Edit, my serial number info is for a manual wind, not auto. But a watch still needs service after 5 years

Oh ok. I'll go get it serviced, but figured why do that if it's a fake. I also read I could get the serial number off the case back for these speedmasters.

Makes sense. I apologize, I tend to think manual wind when I see Speedmaster, so hadn't considered the auto.

It looks legit to me, but any watch maker with an Omega parts account will know immediately upon opening it and will not continue with a service if it is fake.

Excellent! Good to know they will stop and not charge me the full service. I have to drive 1 hr to get to an authorize dealer and they will then have to send it out to another state to have it serviced.

Watchmaker will tell you if it’s real 👍
Won’t touch it if it’s not, so you won’t be out of pocket 👍

It looks OK to me

Thx! Again, newbie to this whole thing. Mostly own vintage (US made Hamiltons) and never dealt with an existing modern watch company. I don't have a $$$ modern watch. Plan to keep this one if it's real.

The serial number should be on the case back or back of one lug depending on the age if the watch. If you post that I'll look it up on the Extranet for you...
