Hello everyone, I came across this Dynamic with gold lugs that can be removed from the case. You open de casebook and a solid gold part comes off. Is there an Omega original detachable part for the Dynamic that adds external lugs to it? Is it a prototype? Or is the part custom made by a particular watchmaker outside the Omega factory? I have been searching online and haven't been able to find anything similar. Thanks in advance for your comments. That looks very "home made" and not in a good way...

Omega does not offer anything like this, but I have seen these in the past that I believe were made by someone (much nicer than what you show) and are done in stainless. Not sure who the maker was or where they come from though.

    Cheers, Al

I agree with Al. Kind of defeats the purpose of the Dynamic styling, but can certainly see the need for it.

Especially when the OEM custom made straps for it began to get scarce in the 1980's.

Omega still makes and sells the straps for these - they are not scarce at all...

I was referring to retail outlets like department stores and small jewelers, where these watches would have been originally purchased.

Most people do not have access to the Omega parts bin like you do.

Well you do - through your local Omega AD, Boutique, or service center. These are not restricted parts so anyone should be able to order them.

Yes. It’s easy to get hold of a strap for a Dynamic. Apart for genuine Omega ones there are copies (which fit OK) often available on eBay

You are totally missing my point.

Back in the 1980’s, no one thought these were collectible. There were no Omega Boutiques. There was no eBay either.

You used to be able to find replacements at Macy’s or any Omega AD. Once the line was discontinued it became far more difficult for non-WIS types to find.

I'm sure an AD would have been able to order it for anyone back in the 80's. In any case, for those who are in the present, there are many options to get them now...

I think Ofrei carries straps for these Dynamic models.

I believe back in the day Omega themselves made an adaptor to use Dynamics with standard straps... although it indeed defeated the purpose.

And a few years ago there was a guy in Hong Kong that still stocked some of those, or some adaptors which did not look overly home-grown.
