One keeps seeing these models , like the one in the photo, with very polished , shiny cases . Are these original Dynamic cases or later re-casings ? thanks for your opinions ! Alexander
Nobody can answer a hypothetical question about cases that you have presumably seen, but have not shown. And since I can't even see the whole case in that photo, it's hard to say much about that particular case. But I'm inclined to say that it has simply been polished.
Later versions of the dynamic were available with a highly polished case. Please see picture below A quick Google will show you other examples with various different dials.
I have the magnification of the dial , it seems to have the wear / tear / patina of an original dial - unless you disagree ?

This is not a great watch. The dial is original but dirty from flaked paint and lume. But the real problem is the case has been polished to hell. The case is supposed to look as much like this as you can find:
The polished rounded versions are powered by the 10xx series, whereas the earlier versions with the radial brushed finish are powered largely by the 5xx series and the 6xx hand-wind movements, which, from a strictly collectible point of view are the ones to go for. Some years ago, a truckload of independent parts including cases, dials and hands for the 10xx series powered models came on to the internet, and unscrupulous operators pillaged 10xx movements from old bangers, fitted them to the new cases and dials and sold them as NOS. Hence, in the Dynamic Collecting fraternity, great care is taken when buying them, requiring the movement to be removed from the case front for inspection. Thus they are not so collectible. Cheers Desmond
Yes the case it's very polished..it has to be the radial brushed visible to be considered a good condition..in my opinion.
