Omega De Ville Hour Vision Gray Market Warranty Valid?

Hi

Just received my new old stock Omega De Ville Hour Vision from a dealer in Japan. The Omega warranty card has an Ippo sticker and the card is dated 12 June 2026. The watch was advertised with a 5 year warranty and is clearly brand new. As this is undoubtedly gray market, and advertised as a parallel import watch I assumed this would be the dealers warranty. I can’t imagine this warranty would be accepted by Omega as a search indicates that Ippo is not an authorised dealer. Nice bonus if it was a valid Omega warranty though!

Would be grateful for views.

Many thanks

J

The quick answer is no. If Ippo are not authorised and the card is identifiably stamped by a grey dealer then I think you might struggle unless Omega did it under goodwill. That said, my experience suggests it all depends on the representative you speak with and whether they bother to check the status of the selling dealer. I have had a warranty repair on a 4 year old Omega I bought second hand in the UK with a card stamped and dated in Japan. I couldn't really make out who the dealer was as it was very blurry and I don't speak Japanese, but Omega honoured the warranty based on the date on the card and the watch was repaired, serviced and the warranty extended. This was handled by a boutique with whom I have a good relationship so perhaps they did me a favour but I suspect it is luck of the draw.

Many thanks for that. As I suspected really. Tried to authenticate it online but I don’t think I can do that as I don’t have a master chronometer certificate, I guess because it predates that.

Most grateful for your advice

Answering myself. The watch has the 8500 calibre co-axial which is COSC I think but not METAS Master Chronometer.

Not sure if this is your meaning but practically, there's not much difference. The 8400 and 8500s marked as "Master co-axial" have the same rating against magnetism and shock, and most people I know who have owned one have had the same general accuracy as a later METAS marked movement. This was my experience with an 8400.

If you want to validate it as genuine, it should be running at 25,200 bph. No fake runs at this rate. Or, if Archer swings by this thread, you can share your serial and it can be authenticated that way.

Hope this information helps, and congratulations on the new watch!

I like the Hour Vision and have one myself (though it wasn't the faulty watch I was talking about above). Post a picture so we can appreciate it.

Spot the larger watch. It is the Hour Vision technically but you wouldn’t think it

Bravo and snap! Mine is on leather only which is annoying as I love that bracelet design. A nice choice, there aren’t many of these on here.

Certainly is a beautiful and intricate (9 link!) bracelet. A criminally underrated, fabulous watch and you get a lot for your money.
