I’m looking to buy my first vintage watch but have no experience of what to look out for. I would like an early Omega Seamaster/De Ville chronograph. I’ve come across this one that apparently has been drastically reduced. Why is it so cheap and has anybody bought anything from Vintagewatchspecialist.

If something seems too good to be true, it usually is. I can't find any reviews of that site, they have no bricks and mortar reference in about us or contact us and the prices seem suspiciously low. On top of that the photos of the watch you linked are all over the place in terms of colour balance. One photo looks stainless steel, the next looks like gold. Enough red flags for me to avoid.

Yes I thought some of the photos looked like gold. They’re also not showing the movement. Think I’ll leave well alone. I’ve seen a nice one on Watches of Lancashire but it seems expensive at £5000. Thanks

Could always buy it with credit card and you should be protected. Does seem like far too good to be true though.
