i have an omega constellation that i recently acquired from my grandfather i know nothing about this watch and would greatly appreciate some help if it could be offered i would like to know the value of the watch and possibly the model number i cannot find any number anywhere. i was told by my grandfather it was purchased in the 60's and it is stamped 14kgf on the back thanks for any help
i might also add that the watch keeps great time and runs without any flaws or hiccups, and i am certain that the band is not original
Yep, it's a 60's model. These C-cases were introduced in 1964, and your's is a post-1966 watch with a caliber 751 inside. That should be a case reference 168.029 and the dial is commonly called linen although there's another name for it that escapes me right now. Can you show a nice picture of the back? It should be gold capped, not gold filled. EDIT: Now I see the pic of the back - you posted while I was answering. It is gold capped, which is a 200 - 250 micron shell of gold over stainless steel. That's 10X thicker than gold plating. These sell for anywhere from $500 - $1000 depending on the condition. Yours is about average because the medallion on the back has some wear. Nice watch and a great heirloom. Get it serviced so the movement is lubricated or you'll damage it.
ok thank you so much i have searched and searched trying to find someone who knew something about this thing i appreciate it
Hell, nearly everybody here knows those watches. Many of us own one or two of the various incarnations too. Here's a crappy iPhone shot of my 168.009 caliber 561 from 1966: And the gold capped caliber 751 I used to own like yours:
