So, I won this auction today, but since I have had second thoughts about the watch. One of the things that really made me interested was the dial, which I think is in perfect condition (right?). But it does, however, has some difficulties: 1) The case is worn/polished to much 2) the movement looks very dirty and it looks like there have been some seriously rotor-rubbing. Is the watch worth the 725 euro or should I back off? If all this was visible on the pictures on eBay you should proceed with the sale. It’s the only honorable thing to do.
What? You bought it, right? Entered a binding agreement with the seller? So now you're unsure if those - very visible issues - are so severe that you should "back off"?
Consider this a not-paying-attention-to-detail tax. You've been around long enough that you should know better, so it doesn't qualify as a noob tax..
I am currently dealing with a non-paying bidder, so I have very little sympathy. These auctions are usually 5-10 days long so there is plenty of time to evaluate the watch and ask for more photos/information. Once the auction ends and you are the high bidder, you pay.
It can be repaired, you know? This is not a disposable swatch... You will just have to add the cost of service+parts to the price, (as almost always when buying from an unknown seller) You will have to pay closer attention to the pictures next time you buy, that's all.
I'd say it it isn't a bad deal, it's a fair price. It has a nice dial and the more sought for rose gold case/hands/markers. Ok it isn't the sharpest case and has the wrong crown, but I still think with a little TLC it makes for a worthy piece. As others have said if you won the auction then you should 100% complete.
The dial is very nice and so are the hands. The case isn't bad and the movement / crown issues are minor. Overall a perfectly good deal. Cleaned up, I could live with that watch, which was fairly described. Anyway what do you value more, changing your mind or keeping your self-respect?
I think the dial is very nice and I think vintage Constellation price is considerably cheap compared to Datejust. So yeah, I think it’s worth the price.
Sorry guys Not my meaning to be cocky or one of those annoying non-paying buyers. I did of course buy the watch and look forward to recieve it Would gladly post some pics when it arrives. Lesson learned.
