Hi, I really wanted to add this watch to my collection, but noticed the abnormal logo later on, I've never seen such a small logo configuration on any Constellation - I've also tried to find a similar example but came up empty Close up photos show something that could be glue on the left crevice of the logo, if so it's not restorable either since these spider dials flake I guess I want someone with more attention to show me another example and tell me it's okay, as I really wish it wasn't a replacement wrong logo The star is also turned like 10 degrees, which supports a played dial theory
I don't believe C-case Connies came with colored dials OTHER than the solid gray ones on later references. This blue fume dial to me looks like a redial done with Wite-Out.
It was 99.9% original because the dial is cracked, I don't think anyone is crazy enough to fake a failed dial design yet - they didn't stand the test of time so they are all cracked like this The logo was the most bizarre thing I've seen, forget Constellations, I couldn't find any model that it could've been taken from, I believe they took one from a small watch and squeezed it a bit to make it fit this dial I was going to buy it just to inspect it, the price wasn't that high, but likely my eBay address wasn't set to US and ultimately that saved me from a heartache The sad thing is, the dials flake on touch, so it was more valuable from a collectors viewpoint with a damaged dial rather than an assumably botched job, if that's glue it's practically impossible to save the dial
I have a later model Connie but still a C shape. It’s blue. They did come in a small variety of colours. Mine is a 1972 168.0057 with the 1021 movement. All original.
Came across this non-standard logo, which brought me back to this watch, but not the same I think this gold dial could be a replacement dial, as the watch is pretty much perfect, just speculating
it does look a bit like the newer logo, so maybe taken from a later constellation. Could it also be one of those things where different regions got slightly different configurations? I did read that there was a time when older movements were being cased and sold in Japan some time after they were no longer being used in Europe and America, and at this time it seems like there was very little English language documentation of these things.
Maybe the 1250 cals, as there are sooooo many of them and special versions for Japan - I've never seen the logo on the blue dial before, but I've seen this latest hobbit sized logo 2 times before
