Happy new year guys. after my last purchase, i went into compulsive omega constellation mode I have this chance to take this beautiful pie pan from 1963. Ref. 167.005 Gilt Dial Cal. 551 It doesn’t have the serif on font, but seems that for this model are not provided Thanks to the help you gave me at the end of the year for the last watch, what do you think about this? it seems to me really perfect, maybe too much .. We talk about 1000€.. Many thanks
Hello The dial looks refinished to me. The case has been heavily polished. I would definitely avoid this one and wait for an original example.
Bad redial with crossed t's and 're' in chronometer.....these are details from the earliest references
For starters, as a personal rule of thumb, I always have more suspicion with a black dial connie than a champagne one. Black dials are rarer amongst vintage connies. In this case, you can compare with an original dial and it jumps to your eyes that this is refinished. It will become easier to spot the more connies you see
Agree with all above and plus it's not a pie pan but a dome dial. To train your eyes check out this thread with wonderful examples: https://omegaforums.net/threads/show-me-your-167-005-or-168-005-connie.124329/
i see now other post, serif fonts are present on ref 167.005.. so it s a clear repainted dial. thanks guys, my money are save I renew the offer for free carbonara pasta in rome for all the forum members.
Here’s a comparison of font style for you. My example is very patinated (in a way these often are), but you can still clearly see the differences. Besides the font etc, the price should also make you very, very skeptical. 1000€ isn’t much for a 167.005. 1000€ for a black dome dial 167.005 is a massive bargain. 1000€ for a 167.005 with a pie pan dial… well.
As others have pointed out, this is not a pie pan dial. So if you want a pie pan, look elsewhere. The case back is gouged up and overly polished, as are the lugs. The dial is refinished and is not a high end job, and likely was not black originally. If you love it, have at er, but there are better choices out there from a resale perspective.
Rather poor redial. Very polished case. Hands missing lume. Movement not looking nice and has signs of massive rotor wear. The case gasket is old. Really, really old. This is definitely not worth it, sorry.
@BrunoCodispoti , my wife and I will be there in late April. Hope to take you up on your generous offer. No better carbonara in the world than Roma.
Hi guys, I’m continuing to search the Pie Pan Constellation. Today I see this piece, a gold rose plated ref 2852-7sc with a 552 caliber. I love the patina and I think with a new plexy and a lizard strap could make a good impression. Dial seems correct and crown original. I d like to ask you if for you it can be worth 800€ with new plexy and 12 months warranty about caliber. Do you think it’s a good buy? (pics about mov and caseback are not in good resolution, I ask to seller to send me better) thank u for support
Are you sure about the caliber? This ref should come with cal. 501 or 505 (which I think is the case, but the movement picture is too bad). 552 is a non-chronometer movement powering later Omegas of the 60s. I wouldn’t buy this watch as I don’t like the patina, but that’s subjective.
