Bracelet is full length with 5 double stretch links which is good. Spare double stretch links in 18kt are impossible to find.
The case looks very good to me and a light rub with a cleaning cloth will make it look even sharper.
My biggest issues are the dial markers some of which have tarnished quite heavily. This should be possible to clean up but it is work. The crystal retaining ring looks corroded.
The dauphine hands...hmm....on my phone I'm not seeing facets in either the hour or minute hands and there is a colour mismatch between them and the seconds hand.
Do you have more pictures to show facets?
And yes this is a Deluxe
What makes you think that it's a 2852? The case ref will be 2852 2853 and with a solid gold dial the watch ref will be the later.
Nice watch and not a common thing to come across - but $13,500?
BTW the box is a late 60s generic Omega box - perhaps ask for a 5 grand discount?
My 5k discount for the box was a little flippant.
Unfortunately the gold price is against you at the minute - and you are paying the gold premium and the ‘Bain’ premium.
The crystal retaining ring looks corroded.
hey! I'm about to buy this watch. They gave me a bit of a discount but should I be worried about the retaining rin
If you don’t like the retaining ring you’ll just have to track down a new crystal. There is a thread that lists crystals by watch reference. Then you can look on eBay.
I don't think I'm grasping the concept. Is this a cosmetic issue or will it be a problem in the future?
Nobody can answer this based on the photos you've provided. We haven't even seen the movement. As far as the retaining ring goes, as I indicated above, the crystal and retaining ring can be replaced if you choose to do so. We are talking about a negligible cost in the context of a 5-figure watch. If there is indeed corrosion, that's not a major concern in itself, but it could be a sign of moisture ingress to the watch, which could lead to other problems.
Or maybe it's just a bit of tarnish ... or a reflection.
I think the crystal that is on the watch is a generic aftermarket crystal as there doesn’t appear to be an Omega symbol in the centre.
The retaining ring on the original Omega crystal would have been a gold colour not silver.
Whilst a generic crystal is somewhat inexcusable on such an expensive watch, as @Dan S days, a genuine Omega crystal can be sourced and fitted with the correct and blemish free retaining ring.
