Any issues seen on this guy. It's my dream configuration on a watch I've been pining over for a decade.

Deluxe no date with flat link. 🤤🤤
(EDIT: this is not a deluxe I don't think)

Bracelet is full length with 5 double stretch links which is good. Spare double stretch links in 18kt are impossible to find.

The case looks very good to me and a light rub with a cleaning cloth will make it look even sharper.

My biggest issues are the dial markers some of which have tarnished quite heavily. This should be possible to clean up but it is work. The crystal retaining ring looks corroded.

The dauphine hands...hmm....on my phone I'm not seeing facets in either the hour or minute hands and there is a colour mismatch between them and the seconds hand.

Do you have more pictures to show facets?

And yes this is a Deluxe

Thanks for the detailed reply!

I was under the impression only 2853's were deluxes but I'm happy to be wrong!

I honestly think the gold tarnishing is attractive and I would personally leave it!

Here's a better view of the facets on the hands!

What makes you think that it's a 2852? The case ref will be 2852 2853 and with a solid gold dial the watch ref will be the later.

Nice watch and not a common thing to come across - but $13,500?
BTW the box is a late 60s generic Omega box - perhaps ask for a 5 grand discount?

You really think this would be discounted to $8500? I can't even seem to find yellow gold deluxes for less than $6000-7000 without a bracelet.

My 5k discount for the box was a little flippant.

Unfortunately the gold price is against you at the minute - and you are paying the gold premium and the ‘Bain’ premium.

I'm not paying anything... yet!

But the flat link on this is really throwing me for a loop. I don't see those that often!

Wow... I almost like the bracelet more than the watch. That would be quite the pickup. Quite a statement watch.

I agree. Even if I can negotiate a bit this will necessitate a thinning of pieces I don't particularly want to move, but might have to 😬😬😬

The crystal retaining ring looks corroded.
hey! I'm about to buy this watch. They gave me a bit of a discount but should I be worried about the retaining ring?

EDIT: allow me to thank you so much for any insight you have given me, and any insight you will give me further.

And for all the posts you and others have left here pertaining to this Defence that I have scoured.

If you don’t like the retaining ring you’ll just have to track down a new crystal. There is a thread that lists crystals by watch reference. Then you can look on eBay.

I don't think I'm grasping the concept. Is this a cosmetic issue or will it be a problem in the future?

Nobody can answer this based on the photos you've provided. We haven't even seen the movement. As far as the retaining ring goes, as I indicated above, the crystal and retaining ring can be replaced if you choose to do so. We are talking about a negligible cost in the context of a 5-figure watch. If there is indeed corrosion, that's not a major concern in itself, but it could be a sign of moisture ingress to the watch, which could lead to other problems.

Or maybe it's just a bit of tarnish ... or a reflection.

Much appreciate Dan! Thanks for taking the time to explain. Very helpful!

I think the crystal that is on the watch is a generic aftermarket crystal as there doesn’t appear to be an Omega symbol in the centre.

The retaining ring on the original Omega crystal would have been a gold colour not silver.

Whilst a generic crystal is somewhat inexcusable on such an expensive watch, as @Dan S days, a genuine Omega crystal can be sourced and fitted with the correct and blemish free retaining ring.

Thanks so much! Yes, if it's just matter of sourcing a replacement crystal, I've been down this read before.

Appreciate both of your explanations!

I'd like to thank everyone here! I purchased and received the watch in 1 day. I'm happy to say, it's in great shape, and does indeed have an omega crystal installed.

The bracelet is in amazing shape too. It has 5 stretch links but it's a bit too big for me even at the smallest micro adjustment. I need to figure out how to size it now 😜
