I agree with the majority. Make sure you keep this watch as you will never have the chance to buy the same one back. Plenty of MAGIC cards out there but not many Constellations as beautiful as yours.

There is no sentimental value with this watch, it belonged to the husband of one of my great aunt, plus I’m not a watch enthusiast (yet).
The only thing I’m worried about, is letting go an item that could go dramatically up in value in the next years, a value that I currently cannot determine unfortunately (I read the connie could be around 2200..still trying to understand what connie means ). That concern me less, because my plans are to invest in other collectible items I love.. I kept this watch for more than 14 years and looking back, I wish I had sold it back then and got what I wanted.
Still looking to service it and then make up my mind

Connie means Constellation.

I'm pretty sure you'll become a watch person one day and you will be so glad to have an original vintage Omega Constellation on your wrist.

I’m not an Omega expert but the price of all known brand vintage watches has gone up exponentially in 10 years, the price of gold has almost doubled since COVID, so it’s clear you would get much more selling it now- and actually it seems like a very good time to sell.
so you should have no regrets.

If it really has no sentimental value, cashing out of an object that is just cluttering you in order to buy something you love seems like a good idea. Even die hard collectors sell watches they no longer feel attached to in order to fund other watches or projects. But indeed tastes evolve and if you become a watch enthusiast you may regret it. You’re the only one who knows.

Be careful though, as you are not allowed to offer it here for sale— and if people make you private offers via private message (as I suspect some may), some of those might be scammers or people out to take advantage of you, so you need to tread very carefully.

PS if you’re going to sell it you should absolutely NOT NOT NOT get it serviced. Many collectors want to control who services their watches. And since you’re a novice nobody will want to pay for that extra cost you’ve incurred.

The basics are:

1. If you want to sell it - don't have it serviced. You probably don't have the contacts that the ones genuinely interested in this type of watch have and you won't recoup the costs.

2. I find it very unlikely that a watch like this will dramatically spike in value. Make no mistake; it is a fantastic and uncommon watch, but there are a number of watches that will rise in value before this and those indicators haven't been seen.

3. Do the very best to document the watch as well as you can before selling. This means loads of photographs, especially of crucial areas such as gold hallmarks, dial condition, etc.

Do tell - what type of collectibles do you love? 😀

Maybe I’m misunderstanding the aims but it feels like this thread, like they sometimes do, is skirting pretty close to the rules on selling below 200 posts.

Very, very good point.

And I think he’s collecting Magic: The Gathering. The “Black Lotus” there is the definite holy grail really.

Yes, I do play and collect Magic: The Gathering cards, started in 1996 😀
Thanks @ConElPueblo!
Sorry, I didn’t mean to bend forum rules, I honestly didn’t read this rule, as I registered to collect some info. That’s a pity because it seemed to be a perfect place where to sell.
Any ideas on where to eventually sell it? I just downloaded the Chrono24 app, maybe it could fit

Hi again!
1) You mean you didn't tried to post a FS thread in Private Watch Sales sub forum yet and you realized you can't (before or after you posted in here)?
2) You mean there are still NO incoming messages in your inbox with people trying to buy your watch?

GLWS👍

Hi Skipper_S!
1) I didn't even noticed there was a Watch Marketplace sub forum, I simply googled "omega forum" looking for some basic information on my connie (😉), after taking a look at chrono24 app. Then I figured out a few posts back about the "200 post rule", and how this thread could be misleading.. sorry about that
2) I want to be transparent: only 1 person contacted me since I posted

PS: Sorry for the late replies, hope my english is understandable!

Thankfully for you you did not claim this was your uncle’s watch— and you waited for a while to disclose it was the great aunt’s husband.
Plus it’s a very nice looking watch so people tend to get mollified by that... otherwise you might have gotten a less sympathetic response. 😉

I totally understand it's hard to believe a newcomer, and even so, I couldn't feel more welcome
