Morning all

I have just been whacked with a huge car bill: service, tyres, clutch, control arms yada yada yada.......... so with this in mind I need to move a few pieces on to cover the costs.

This is an exceptional watch, it is a jumbo 168.004 in lovely condition and had clearly been well looked after during its life, serial number is 21 million (1964), the case is excellent as you can see from the images and super clear.

The movement is in great condition and showing very wear, the dial and hands as you can see from the images are superb (hands are longer than the pie pan, I will also supply a full set of correct shorter hands as part of the deal and happy to have them fitted prior to deliver if the new owner prefers)

The dial is completely original and has one tiny age related imperfection on the right of the Omega logo but this doesn’t detract and is barely visible, there is another almost invisible one to the bottom around the edge of the dial between 4 and 5, most importantly though the dial is original and a crosshair pie pan, very rare for this model.

It is a beautiful example, it is running very strongly and keeping good time, although I have not had it serviced in my ownership.

It is fitted as you can see with a period Peccary band and original Omega buckle and looks simply superb, as you can see compared to my 18K Dennison Pie Pan its a substantial piece and is very wearable

I love the way these jumbo Constellations wear, it looks superb on the wrist, especially with the hidden crown and has a real wrist presence.

Super looking watch!
Have to ask - the minute and seconds hands are longer than the pie pan edge - is that normal for this reference?

I have had a chat with a friend at Omega who believes that they may be original

I also have a full set of the original shorter pie pan hands in new condition, which I will supply to the new owner as part of the deal and happy to have fitted prior to delivery

Wow that was fast! Haven't even had my coffee yet. Guess I got that old time zone blues having missed this beauty. 🙁
Ah, well, congrats to the prospective new owner -- looks like a pip! 👍
Best,
T.

BTW: The original description noted the movement as cal. 560, with a now-deleted photo. isn't this case reference supposed to have either cal. 561 or 564? I don't think 560 is a chronometer grade movement...

It did indeed Adam (hence I've withdrawn it now), I had a buyer lined up elsewhere on another forum who pointed it out to me (I completely missed the fact 560 wasn't a chronometer grade movement) so I've pulled the deal and contacted the museum. My worry is that the movement may not be correct so until I hear back from the museum I didn't want proceed with the deal.

It maybe the rotor has been replaced by a 24 jewel one but the base movement is a 560 (which now having done my research is 17 jewel) . I am hoping this is not the case but as I bought it from a fellow forum member originally I pulled down the original pic and description until I had the facts so I could address it with the first owner first.

Thanks for the update. Doing some reading earlier on Desmond's blog, it seems that the 560 was a US-only movement of very limited production (3000 pieces), mainly used in DeVilles and some Seamasters.

My research yielded the same results! The previous owner to me is a stand up guy and a great collector so he wouldn't have knowingly passed on a wrong watch but until I had the facts I felt the only option was to pull it and investigate further

Update: unfortunately it looks like the movement has been swapped at some point for a cal 560 with a 24 jewel bridge. Thankfully the original owner (and also a fellow forum member) has agreed the return of the watch and to refund me. This is why I love the forums and particularly the Omega forum, Decency and honour mean a great deal and thats what makes this community special.

Sadly I am also now going to have to let a few pieces I really didn't want to lose go! Sigh
