Sharing my lovely Connie 503 Many Connie 354 or 505 I've ever seen, but 503...? Come on, show me your 503...
@dennis: what a beautifull black dial... let me present a black dial too...Caliber 505 Step by step...503, 504, 505...next...!!!
Cal. 503 is a date non-chronometre calibre so that is the wrong movement for the watch. And as you know the black dial connie is a refinish while that of Dennis is an original black dial.
LOL ULF, nice watch you got there A Connie 503 is a bit like gorgonzola that's missing the gorgon. Aga, please post a pic of the movement and we can get to the bottom of the issue. Chiz Desmond.
As MSN said the 503 was not a chronometer movement. The 501 19-jewel was the first rotor wind Constellation replacing the 354. The 501 was also made in non-chronometer versions in 19 and 20-jewel versions. The 503 is a 19 or 20-jewel DATE movement and the first attempt by Omega at a quick-set mechanism, advancing the dated by turning the hands backward past 10:00 o'clock and forward again. The 504 24-jewel was the first date movement for the Constellation.
Where do I find these thrings? Would that make it a Constola or Zolation? Too much potential for frankening from what I recall of that article.
You have invented the perfect code for an incomplete Connie, perhaps as opposed to a deliberately frankened example. I think Constola is apt and quite droll.....let's use it! Cheers D
Hello, I am new to this forum and I also have a Constellation wit the cal. 503. It is in a 38mm gold capped case ( 2867 - 1 SC ) and a 17.000.000 serial number on the movement. I've read somewhere that there was a small number of 503 Constellations. Any thoughts?
The dial on the watch is redone. https://www.google.com/search?q=ome...-PDZAhXQ-lQKHbGrB24Q_AUIDCgD&biw=1269&bih=827 That reference, 2867 - 1 SC shows to be a Seamaster when searched in Google Images.
2867 or 2887? Got to say it does look like a Connie case. The dial has been redone however as per @noelekal comments.
Hm, redone dial. Never would have thought that. I have this watch since 1998 and 6 watchmakers worked on it or handled it since. Nobody mentioned this before.
Take a look at these two essays by Desmond. http://download1337.mediafire.com/w8bjzn9zvbeg/ojf488dzh034yzk/Condialdefinitive part 1V2.pdf http://download1080.mediafire.com/ve1oqqej6j8g/2khn9grys18kc78/Condialdefinitive part 2V2.pdf In particular look at the dials with printed Omega logos (like yours) and notice the spelling of chronometer.
I recall Desmond also wrote an essay on connie medallions - that could be your second port of call, as i dont like the look of the case back of yours above, sorry to say
