Hi folks, I would kindly ask you for your help. This Omega Constellation Calendar was offered to me. It is a ref 14393 with cal 561. In my opinion everything seems to be legit. Even the crown might be original (saw the same one a 14393 in the Omega book) What do you think on the rail track dial. It seems to be not that common or am I wrong? It is 18k gold and even the original box is included. What would be a fair or let's call it a realistic price? Duffy
It is a nice original example from the photos with the uncommon railtrack dial. I will leave it to others to comment on the price but is worth a premium over average examples.
I will say though that for me this watch with a refinished dial would be worth more than the same watch with pristine original dial and crappy case and movement. I would buy neither but that's how I would look at values.
You have not seen the back of case back yet, Mike. How about some personalizations and worn medallion ?
What are you concerned about the dial or do you mean that you can only judge on the dial if you can see all details in high resolution.
Dial looks ok but the seconds hand looks like a later replacement. That alone would want me to take a close look at the dial which you would want to do regardless.
And when Hoi and I agree on something which we typed at about the same time you definitely want to do it!
The watch is priced for $2.800 which in my opinion is OK if the dial is all original. Any thoughts on the price?
If i am not mistaken its the watch on sale in Austria right? Not 100% sure but i think i held this exact piece 2 weeks ago at the watch fair. I actually really liked it and the condition of the case and caseback was really sharp. Also the dial look very good. The guy wanted 2400€ for this piece also with the box. It felt very heavy, i think the dial is also from gold. I didnt buy it because i already have a pie pan connie. But otherwise i was very tempted. Maybe you can negotiate the price a bit, this watch was on sale for a while already. Best regards! Edit: the guy also told me its not original buckle, but i think he has an original one at home. Maybe worth asking.
Those dials are notoriously difficult to photograph because of the mirror effect of the minutes trench. Looks good but to be sure you should either ask for better pics in indirect, natural light or inspect the actual watch.
In case of redial, 95% of the value will be in its gold weight. So it will still worth at least as much as any SS equivalent in average condition
Yeah, let's hope that gold contents in it is equal to this SS Constellation. https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-constellation-pie-pan-waffle.94390/
