Hello All,

This is my first post on this group, thank you all for looking into my question. I recently purchased the following omega constellation, pie-pan dial. The seller had clearly mentioned the dial damage around 1oclock, but I still bid on the watch and I won it. I still have not received the watch but as I look more at the pictures, I am worried that the dial might not be original. According to some posts I read " this flaking" might be a sign that dial was poorly redone. Is it possible to tell if its authentic from the pictures? Also what would be the reason for this kind of damage. Thanks!

Appears to be repainted from that photo

Too much to dislike for me. Unless you paid a few hundred USD.

Dial, case is about 90% of the value and no movt shots, but if a correct cal, and working plus the hands, that brings its’ value to a few hundred.

But Dealers gotta eat and have Boat Payments to make.

I don't think the dial is repainted but I'm not so sure about that 😀. The real problem is the case is heavily polished, you can see the lugs do not looks straight anymore, they look thin and rounded. The bezel does not look round (look between 9 and 10). Of course the crown is wrong. The case back looks good. The movement has a fresh yellow bridge while the other parts seem rose, I don't know why it is like that. The milanese bracelet alone worths 200 euro.

Movement has a serial number in 34 million range. This is way too high for a Ref. 168.005, which discontinued around 1970. So movement is a replacement.

I don’t think this bracelet is correct for this model either.

I would request a refund if watch was advertised on eBay as “original”, as this assertion is simply not correct.

thats a bit high for a milanaise in my opinion (200€ rather a 1037 or 1036)

This is a late dogleg - painted indices and no perlaging inside the caseback.

I'm fairly sure that someone posted a kosher 168,005 with a very late serial once before, from the Far East - and the conclusion was that Omega may have been selling the last of the original doglegs in the Far East at the same time as the revised 168.065s, which pushed the last of the originals well into the early 70s.

It's either a repainted dial or a very misleading photograph.

The bridge seems to have been replaced.
The case is certainly soft
and that looks like a crack in the bezel between 9 and 10

I would also return the watch if you can @afmontreal
