I almost parted with this beauty, however the potential buyer, an avid Omega collector, is almost sure that their had to be a Chronometer Certificate on this one as on a 1960s. I have googled to find an image of such a certificate, without luck and asked other reliable sources, who do not think the later ones (70's 80's) chronometers were supplied with such.

So vintage gurus with vast knowledge, what are the facts? Is the chronometer certificate missing to what I thought to be a full set or was it never there as they did not come with such in the 70's.

    Thanks!

I don't think these had the certificates included in the box like the earlier Constellations.

sorry to say ... but I hate this vintage watch BSing around ...

"I offer the watch with what you see in the photos and want $ xxxx".

Potential buyer pls make up your mind BEFORE contacting me (I am not willing to chase documents that might never have existed to begin with)...Case closed - everybody knows exactly what he will get.

I have one explanation for why a 1972 chronometer certificate isn't forthcoming, according to the papers the watch is dated 1982. In fact the guarantee on the left appears to be dated 1991 which is rather confusing since it contradicts the first! Are you sure these papers even match? Maybe your buyer is right to ask questions.

The watch is from 1972, first sold in 1982, serviced in 1991. Sorry I was not clear on this.

I was only showing the papers I had :)

No, I was being a smart ass so it is I who should apologise, though 10 years is a long time for a jeweller to hold out for a sale!

my question is: Is there such a thing as a 1970s chronometer certificate for Omega constellations, my research says no, but I think there are more knowledgable people here on that subject than I, hence the question.

I agree, however the design did not meet much success when released.

Sorry but this integrated design was the toast of Basilworld when it was released in 1969 with the calibre 751 version. The case was even patented as it was the first such example of an integrated bracelet watch. Several hundred of thousands of this case style were sold, and that doesn't sound to me as a design that didn't "meet with much success" Later versions, as above with the cal 1021, were equally successful.

I understand the steel version was more successful. Now being the constellation collector, can you answer the question of the chronometer certificate?

As I understand it, the question was did these models come with a chronometer certificate? The answer is no
