Any advice/thoughts regarding this 1968 constellation? I love the c case design on this one in particular!

I can see the user originally attempted to sell around the $1000 mark but has since lowered the price to $788.

Thanks!

While the price is generally ok for that modell, I'd pass on this one for it's condition. Dial seems nice overall, although there might be a stain or something around the 2h mark. Wear on the crown, and most of all the gold plating seems to be worn through at the lower lugs, which is (realistically) not repairable. Movement is correct but does show some rotor wear so it might need a service, too - with some patience, you'll find better examples for the money or slightly more.

Thank you for taking the time to reply! This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping someone would give me a bit of help on 😀

I'll keep on the lookout and have a bit of patience!

Looks like it’s seen some polishing, too - the bezel is supposed to have a radial, brushed effect, as on my 168.017:

C-cases don’t command the same prices as the older Connies, but there is a lot of love for them. I believe that if you are going to score a vintage dress watch, you should get as good an example as you can, so that you can wear it with pride in the smartest occasions... when those eventually come back around again!

Good luck in your quest - these really are lovely watches.

Ah yeah I can see that in yours 😀 - which looks lovely on that Milanese bracelet by the way!

Thanks!

Glad you like it - it’s aftermarket but I think the Connie really sings on the Milanese bracelet. I paid way more for expensive leather straps that never go on the watch!

Matter of taste I guess, I bought so many watches that have the milanese straps they come join my bracelet graveyard 😁

Your watch doesn't look like it has the original crystal anymore either, but honestly, I've seen so so many worse 168.017's - it's one of the good ones

Bottom of the barrel is $450 for these Constellations, thrashed ones go for that much (serious damage, broken crystal etc.) - This watch I think is easily worth $450+200 - I think it's worth the asking price too, but I can't render a decision as you see the flaws in person and after it's too late

Also, very important, you need to see the back logo - If it lost it's detail after years of destructive polishing - It's at least -$50, at least, maybe even -$100

Well spotted - the original crystal was cracked beyond polishing when I bought it, so it’s an Omega replacement.
