Omega Constellation 14393 and 168.005 with gold markers

Hello,

I like the Omega Constellation Pie Pans and prefer steel cases with gold markers and crosshairs on the dial. I was recently able to buy a 168.005 after a 14393 (which had a broken bezel that I try to either replace or get laser welded).

Note the small differences like the small marker to the right of the date window (168.005) that is missing on the other dial (143939). Other differences include the lugs and the 'OFICIALLY CERTIFIED. The back cover of the 14393 had a gold Medaillon and a stepped surface whereas on the 168.005 it had a steel Medaillon and a flat surface.

Cheers,

Roger

Hi Roger.

The differences in dial text is - apart from the small difference in diameter - the main difference between 143XX and 168XXX pie-pan dials. The "missing" marker next to the date window is also a known variation.

Lovely watches in great condition!

I followed the auction as well for the 168.005. You managed to score a beautiful piece at a decent price. For me the price would have been a little over 1800 euros with shipping, import duty and taxes so I decided to pass on it. I was going to bid on the very last minute, but I was afraid the price was only going to increase in vain.

It was close to my maximum amount. I live in Switzerland and that means also import taxes, shipping. To me it looks like this watch came directly from the owner or family and that's what I value and what attracts me. My favorite would be a complete set incl. box and papers in pristine condition, but even if I found one, I would probably be afraid of wearing it due to its rarity and value.

And here is the 3rd one I have (cross hairs, but without gold markers) that was sold inbetween the 14383 and 168.005: Ref. 14902. Already with dog leg lugs, but with the dial like for the 14383:

At least now I know who has been snagging all the beautiful constellations I have been eyeing for! Good taste.

Yes, enough for now, then you will love the no date 167.005 with cross hair, the black dials and the ones with patina etc...

You are probably right 😀 They are not cheap and it sums up, but at least they are most likely a good long-term investment. I have a 167.005 with box and papers and a 7912 bracelet in near mint condition, but I don't plan to wear that one.

Could well be, it all depends on what he paid in the first place 😉

well if you can snag them for reasonable price, most likely it is a good investment in long term, but good quality connies are getting harder to come by 😁

Well done i would say! 👍 i havent seen such good deal in Europe for a while..
Whether a purchase was a good investment or not, depends obviously on the price and condition.
I paid for my Conny EUR 1400,- last year, and tried to sell here recently for EUR~990,- and there was not too much interest to be honest.
Therefore i obviously made a bad "investment" 😀 😉

Buying a Constellation is never a bad investment... 😀

But, for certain reasons, please don't tell anybody how much I paid for this one:
