HI All,

new to the world of omega but see it will become my obsession i will appreciate some advise and pointers, i have two watches in mind which i have found for sale the issue i have with both is condition and authenticity. I feel drawn to the constellation more I dont what it is but the look is special in the model for me, but the seamaster face and dial has drawn me in i do like both and around the same price £600-700, any help will be appreciate i am looking at this for the long term investment and will like to restore the watch i end up with.

Both apparently working keeping good time the constella is 18k capped not sure the seamaster just plated .

While the second has a "better" movement, overall the first is a better watch. It needs a new crown but those are easily sourced.

Do you mean the crown on the seamaster not original or could do with a better one.

Hi,

i am looking at this for the long term investment and will like to restore the watch i end up with.

Do you mean 'Investement' or that you want to own the watch for long time?

Do you a favour and buy a watch that doesn't need to be restored.

The Constellation dial has lost a great part of its printing

The Seamster has corrosion on its case

Pass them, especially at those prices!

The Connie is knackered so don’t bother. The Seamaster may just be filthy dirty so factor in £200-300 for a service but otherwise looks ok to me. If that is corrosion walk away. If you think it’s a good deal at ~£900 all in then that’s all good but there are cheaper similar options out there.

It’s the correct crown but the gold plating is very worn. The ‘clover’ crowns were still available from Omega when I needed one about 5 years ago but not sure these days. Shouldn’t be too difficult to source one.

And, regarding your original query, the Connie is really only fit for slingshot ammunition. The Seamaster looks alright to me with a new crown and a service. 600 quid seems slightly ambitious.

I think the seamaster does have some rust but assumed only surface and could be cleaned out

Not sure if its value for money but finding a good one similar is difficult and not sure where to buy from any ideas

Best option is from here. Keep an eye on the for sale forum here. You need a few more posts to post in the WTB but, if you stick around learning and posting the you’ll get to 200 posts in no time and can post asking for something.

Is it only gold plate you’re looking for? Most would say it’s better to go steel as the plating wears off (as you see on that crown). Right now, there’s a nice steel Seamaster from the era in the private watch sales forum although it does have a bit of damage to the Omega logo on the dial. Either way, they’ll come up here with regularity.

Thank you for the advise i will stick it out as suggested dont want to be too hasty in making a purchase only to later regret it later.

My experience is very limited would benefit from guidance

I will pass these two for now and will keep an eye for another potentials, im not fussed about the casing material more with the face and originality of the appearance and a good movement it also must be 1950 -1960 style so gorgeous!
