Omega CK 2179 US Army WWII Watch ID Help (1944)

Hello,
This was my Dads watch from what I can find might be from WWII? It has US ARMY on the bottom. He was in the air force not the army and in Vietnam not WWII so I’m not sure how it became his. If anyone has any information as far as model or value please share!

Could indeed be a US Army reference, unfortunately with a poorly repainted dial. Do you happen to have any photos of the inside?

Number on the case is 2179/2

These were not issued. Purchased on base by servicemembers so this could still fit your history. 10,xxx,xxx serial number so around 1944.

Oh very cool thank you for the info! I’m very much a novice to watches any tips to get it running? Seems like it wound it started working last year when I played with it but that’s the first I’ve ever seen it function.

The watch is indeed WWII era, and part of a batch of watches purchased by the US Army. Presumably, your father bought it much later, pre-owned.

Try to find independent watchmaker with Omega parts account, who services vintage watches. You can search here use advanced search option and look for watchmaker Ohio and you will find some leads.

Do not take to Omega they will send to Switzerland and it will be totally overhauled at high cost with replacement of many parts which will ruin vintage charm and value.

Share the “after” story if you get it serviced.

It is believed that after WWII some of these entered the PX system and possibly sold as war surplus later.
