I bought an Omega chronograph (cal 320) circa 1956/7 a while ago. While the dial has obviously been restored, I am wondering whether it is correct that the dial is without a tachymeter. I do not have much knowledge of Omega vintage watches and any feedback would be appreciated.
Hello Prieur, no is not corretc at all this dial, usually every dial for cal.320 have the tachymeter scale in gold case or steel case. this one is a not good repainted. but if search there are some dial for sell on ebay.. regard Dante
I've seen a lot worse on chronographs. Can't tell you for sure if that watch had a version without the tachymeter or not, but as rvrv520 says it was supposed to have one.
rvrv520 & ulackfocus I have contacted Omega with this question. The watch did in fact come out without a tachymeter. Below is a photo of a watch in the Omega collection that shows this.
...ok... but the pics that have post you seems to be repainted, or is only the pics effect...? is better see a macro pics of your dial without bezel and glass. what reference is? Dante
Mike MSNWatch also had that some model without tachymeter, for that dial with that dial furniture no-tachy is correct
There are cal. 320 and 321 chronographs in solid gold that have original dials without the tachy scale.
You mean this one? Don't mind the company. The party shot is from an old thread. FWIW my watchmaker Sam Kalter says it's a pretty rare watch and definitely original.
Precisely the watch I was mentioning That watch has been around the world more times than I have at this point
I think it was Mike's then went to Australia for a period before you bought it, and could have been anywhere before Mike had it. Always impressive seeing how far from home they go, of the three I have extracts for, one is Mexican delivered, one says "French Colonies" and one was delivered to Sweden, all now in Australia.
