Hallo to everybody!
After three months my adventure finally ended...

Thanks
to the ring from ChrisN I had my Omega working!!!

By now I'm happy that it works again...next step will be remake dial and hands (both were spoiled by the first watchmaker:whipped:) but as you can see ChrisN ring works very well!!!!

I have to say that I had never worn such a light watch even if automatic..
I'm used with my Rolex or some russian automatic which are soo much heavy!!!

This is really a discreet friend!!!

As soon as I can (it depends on money) I'll upgrade and post new pic of new dial and restored hands!

Cheers from Italy!

Hi @talete76

Thanjs for the PM and I'm pleased to hear that the ring worked. You were very generous in the amount you sent me and I would be happy to help you again. Nice to see it's back together and running and that you found a Watchmaker you can trust.

I'm not sure which hands fit this model but, based on the pictures above, it could be these?

Available new from Cousins. They have quite a selection of 565 hands. I know Al, @Archer is very busy but, if he sees this thread he may be able to look them up for a 166.0041 and tell us if these are correct. By the way, the ones above are the most expensive they have, usually they are about half that.

On the dial front, I have this which looks similar. It is not perfect but, if you are interested, I will measure it. It is from a 565. This time, just for the postage cost as it is just taking up space.

The markers are yellow and would likely improve with a clean (just the markers, don't try to clean the dial).

Cheers, Chris

New dial is still available (silver dial with stick markers, Geneve, non-luminous) - part 064TT0838001.

Hands are also available - H/M part 065TZ8187

Seconds hand part 066UZ1371

Thanks Al, you're a Gentleman. Quite surprising that a dial is still available, that's a terrific service from Omega. I can understand it for the tool watches but for a dress watch, it's nice they still offer these.

Cheers, Chris

Certainly not all are available, but sometimes you get lucky!

Hallo to everybody!!!
Nice to ear such news from you!
Your dial is like mine before the watchmaker had put it's hands on 😀
I thank you for the offer but I really don't want to profit by your kindness! I take some money apart and we'll see!

I also take a look to Archer info, and thank him for his prof advice!

Hi

Sounds like you need a new watchmaker. I'm not sure what watch you are building but, if it's of any help, I have one other expansion ring. It's 30.5 mm maximum outer diameter and 2.35 mm thick. You can see that it's stepped on the outer diameter. It definitely takes a 565 as I just popped one in it.

Well, with the recent upsurge in interest in Omega, I am sad to say that the price has gone up. I have my overheads to consider and our Euro collapse so, I could only let it go for:

The postage and two beers.

I know that is a 100% increase in less than a year and some may accuse me of profiteering but that's the kind of capitalist running dog I am. 🙄

Measure your case and let me know.

Where are you in Italy?

Regards, Chris

Hi,
Sorry for digging up an old thread. I found an omega 166.041 from my dad's storage recently. Owned by my grandfather and ruined by some watch maker back in 80s and was since put in a bag. Gladly my dad was a watch maker so he put the movement in oil and sealed. It was in mint condition. But he could not find a back case or a crystal for that. I took the challenge and found a dial, crystal and back case from eBay. Sadly i couldn't find a movement ring. Am in desperate need for the exact same movement spacer ring. I searched through eBay and no luck. Probably someone could help me out if anyone has these rings laying around. Am willing to pay if the price is reasonable. Thanks.

I don't have any more but I suppose someone might. Did you notice in Al's reply that the ring is still available if you take the watch to a watchmaker who has an Omega account?

Good luck, Chris

BTW the enlargement ring 07905500E is discontinued, but the replacement is available and the part number is 079LC05500E.

Cheers, Al

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. That's unfortunate. Here in Sri Lanka I don't think any authorized omega watch makers are available yet who can get the parts. I am planning on making one. I am trying to figure out the exact dimensions now. Thank again.
Cheers, Eric
