Hello guys, when looking through vintage IWC dress watches, I keep seeing people mention that IWC cal. 89 is a fine quality movement. On the other hand, I also often people mention that Omega cal. 56x, let's say cal. 561 is one of vintage Omega finest movements. I know one is manual wound movement and the other one is automatic movement. How do you compare these two movements? Which one is more reliable? Which one is more accurate? Which one is more durable? Which one is more commonly found? I know Omega cal. 561 is chronimeter grade. Is IWC cal. 89 also chronometer grade? Thanks and cheers!
I don’t think cal 89 is chronometer rated, but most definitely this movement comes cased in some very elegant models..so why quibble for a few seconds here and there?
I agree with that, but that is the reason I want to know more about cal 89. Unfortunately my wallet does not permit me to just buy watches that I like without knowing related stuff here and there. Since I own connie with cal 561, that’s why I want it to be compared with cal 89, which I have interest with.
C’mon guys - it’s christmas! @Khamenman has a C-case so presuming one digit out its a 561. Happy Christmas all !
Well, IMO he deserves a bit of good-natured ribbing for even asking this kind of question. Which movement is better?
Just to further complicate things, I happen to love my IWC cal 853, it’s an automatic movement. Steel, 35+mm case diameter, I’m very happy with it.
Dont you mean the pellaton movements versus the automatic movements of omega in those years? https://www.iwc.com/en/articles/exp...matic-meets-state-of-the-art-engineering.html
