Omega cal.1002 pallet fork not working.

Hello, I am on the very end of finishing the movement to my 1969 omega de ville, but the pallet fork is not jumping or properly engaging with the escape wheel. The automatic works and train wheels are both engaging/turning without the escape wheel, but as soon as I try and connect the pallet fork the escape wheel no longer moves. I looked closely and it appears that the jewels on the pallet fork are not properly reaching the escape wheel to turn back and forth. I purchased this watch off Chrono24 and as far as I know it has not been serviced in a very long time, I believe the shellac on the pallet jewels has failed over time and the jewels have moved too far back. I tried to put on the balance wheel and it is not staying turning either so this backs my idea that the pallet fork is broken. Does this idea that I need to replace my pallet fork make sense? I am curious because this is my first time ever taking apart a watch. Thank you!

I agree, pic needed.

If the " jewels on the pallet fork are not properly reaching the escape wheel to turn back and forth " then the escape wheel would turn unhindered.

Can you put the pallet full bank to one side and take a pic, then repeat for the other side. Do this very gently so that the jewels, if they are actually touching, do not engage the escape wheel teeth with undue force.

If the jewels have become unseated you will need to buy a new pallet fork.

I applied some power by winding and now it seems like the fork is jumping like it should but the balance wheel is stuck. I am confused.

I think I may have been wrong with what I previously said, the wheel just may have ran out of power to move. I just don’t know why the balance wheel wouldn’t move then.

Take the pallet fork out, put the balance wheel in and use a puff of air to see of the balance rotates when fitted.
It should oscillate for a while until the hairspring becomes static.

I the balance moves freely, put the pallet for back and install the balance assembly, making sure the roller jewel is in between the horns of the fork.

You set the fork to one side and when bringing the balance wheel in, you rotate it so the roller jewel engages correctly.

Hard to explain, so watch some videos on the web to see how it's done

Hello, the balance is moving freely but when I try to install it with the pallet fork it starts and then stops. I believe that the roller jewel is not engaging with the fork horns properly even after many attempts. Probably one or the other is broken if I were to guess.
