Hi,
I have inherited this watch from my grandfather.
It was bought new in Sweden by him.
It has not been used for many years now, but works perfect.
I'm going to sell it, and wonder if I should first get it serviced, changed glass and strap on it, or is it as good to sell it as it is? (Maybe I shouldn’t ”destroy” the original condition.)
After reading at Internet I have understood that this particular model is quite rare and collecatable. Does anyone know the value of it?
Thankful for your inputs!
Greetings
Helen

Its a nice watch. Generally you dont have to service a watch prior to sales, the buyer can do that. Different method of sales give different outcomes. An auction house take comission but it is very convenient. If you are outgoing and like the art of selling you can do it yourself through an ad at the internet. Value? Maybe 500-1500 USD. Good luck with the sales!

If I was intending to sell this watch, I'd leave it like it is.

This, not only because there is a great risk that the watch will lose authenticity when it is "embellished" by the wrong person, but also because this would not have a reasonable price-performance ratio.

Hi Helen
I would certainly sell it as is. Put it on Tradera with a set of good photos and it will do very well. These are particularly sought after by Swedish collectors so I’m sure it will do well. I would certainly expect to see it reach 6-8k sek. Perhaps a little more.

There is not much upside to restoring the watch before sale. Just take good photos and describe it honestly (the latter will help you avoid returns). Try to avoid photos where shadows from scratches on the crystal might be interpreted as damage to the dial itself.

Thanks for all your good inputs!
I will place it at Tradera.com soon for auction.
I did polish the glass little, and I think it got okey.
I have taken some new pictures.
Kind regards,
Helen

Hi Helen,

Omega Suveran are really great watches. The Albino dial like yours is pretty rare actually. It seems the luminous material in the hour hand has been redone and the crown has been replaced by a later one but all in all great watch.
