Omega Beta 21: Case Back Gasket - where to buy?

Dear All:

Due to the kindness of a well-known forum member, I was alerted to an Omega Beta 21 for sale. It was in great condition but without a movement shot. Nonetheless, I bought it hoping for the best.

Just received the watch and the case back gasket has turned to sticky goo. Spent a long time cleaning it up and it is ok now - i think...as i'm not experienced at this at all.

May I ask where to buy a case back gasket for the Beta 21 rectangular case please?

In the meantime, is it safe or ok to wear the Beta 21 without a caseback gasket?

Thank you!

@Chewbakkk Thank you kindly for your reply. Here is the case back (attached pictures below):

196.005

The issue is: these gaskets for this particular reference must have been made back in the 1970s, and as such, wouldn't they all have either hardened over time or became gooey as well?

What should one do?

I remember buying one from Cousins UK a few years ago, not sure whether they're still available though.

If anything else fails, I believe it is possible to buy sheets of gasket material where you can stamp out the shape of gasket you need.

A sheet of greaseproof paper over the caseback (as a template) and a tube of silicone adhesive with a fine tip nozzle.

Do some cake icing moves and make a gasket (you can make as many as you like to get the right one).

Allow it to cure for a week and then fit it.
