First the Apollo XI moon landing mission of 1969 and second the flight re-qualification of 1978 by NASA for the Space ShuttleProgram. The yellow gold version was delivered from 1980 to at least 1987 (still in the 87 Omega catalogue) of which half being delivered to the German market. This watch is the first Speedmaster Professional with a sapphire crystal case-back showing the caliber 816L movement with 19 jewels instead of the 17 of the caliber 861 of that time. The movement has rhodium plating, about 15 years before it was introduced to the standard production movements (caliber 1861/1863). It is actually the only Speedmaster with a snap on case-back instead of a screw case-back. With only around 300 made, this gold Omega Speedmaster Professional BA 345.0802 watch is even more rare than the commemorative gold Speedmaster Professional from 1969 and a bargain if you compare it to this years re-edition
