    Dear Colleagues,

I will be picking up another Speedmaster from my OB soon and I was offered to choose between a book "Omega - A journey through time" or watchmaker course provided by Omega service director.

    What would you choose?

I'm tempted to get the book, but have read that it contains a lot of errors that were supposed to be corrected in a new edition (which was not issued yet as far as I know). The watchmaker course (5h) could be great fun so I'm curious about your thoughts!

    Take the book.
It’ll last you a lot longer than 5 hours.
(And leave the watchmaking to watchmakers)

Go for the book - all I got was a magazine (plus a healthy discount ;))

I would take the course, and ask the service director if the Speedmaster could be used for the course.

The book can be bought any other time.

    Hi
The one thing I never ever skimp on is good reference material...

AJTT is a must have for any Omega collector... every ref book will have errors or typos etc... but its a great ref to have....

But I would try to get both!!!

    Best

WTF?? I need to change my Omega dealer for sure.
Book is great, specially when you don't have to pay $350 for it ::facepalm2::

I'd choose the book unless there is a PDF of it online (doubt it). Imagine sitting down, wearing your watch and flipping through the book and just relaxing. You'll get lost in the book for hours. I do this every time I go to the OB :D

I took the watch course before, it was a nice experience. A very basic build, but so cool to be instructed by a watchmaker even though you'll see how difficult it can be. I can't imagine building a chronograph!

    Book.
The information within will last much longer than your watchmaking skills as they diminish over time.

Right choice. I have the book and refer to it often. I’ve also done the course and while it was most enjoyable I don’t “refer” to the framed certificate at all. B9121673-8D70-4D4E-9275-C52A3A363890.jpeg
    Still, nice to have though.

Wow, that is a pretty nice gift. You must buy a lot of watches... I would highly rrecommend picking up the book. It is great fun flipping through and seeing Omega’s history.

Did you get to keep the watch you 'made'?

    Book.

While I have never been in a boutique, I am absolutely grateful for getting a copy early in my collecting phase. More knowledge is always useful, and having a reference to check originality at hand can make or break a deal.
