Hi, a friend has passed this buckle on to me to see if I can sell it for him.
Can anyone confirm it as genuine? I have read Omegastars excellent post but can find no mention of gold buckles with the hallmarks on the side. I don't want to post it for sale here if it is not 100% genuine.
    Thanks. 2017-11-27 11.43.56.jpg 2017-11-27 11.43.40.jpg 2017-11-27 11.45.33.jpg 2017-11-27 11.43.40.jpg 2017-11-27 11.44.10.jpg

UK hallmarks. Pictures out of focus, but one of those marks will tell you date of manufacture.

How much would it be if you sold it as a 100% genuine

A few years ago, the 16mm English hallmarked 9ct gold buckles would sell in the 80-110 gbpound range on ebay. There are two types - the square one that you have ( early 60s onwards) and a more rounded one (which from memory is slightly earlier -late 50s onwards).

Most were made by MWF - montal watch fittings, i beleive, but i think all should have birmingham hallmarks ( anchor)

I have 2 MWF buckle. They have different markings.
One with "MWF" hallmark, not sure if it is gold capped?

I did log the ebay sales a few years ago, and just found my unfinished compilation

Photos mainly taken off ebay, so apologies if these are used without permisssion, but i did win a few of these buckles to match some 18k seamasters and my 2 18k connies i own

The rounded buckles did seem to overlap with the later squarer ones, from the limited study i conducted

    Cheers paul

    Thanks Sherbie.
I found the beautiful English hallmarks at the side of the "MWF" buckle. It's for sure a 9k gold. 20171204_001110.jpg

    Thanks, Sherbie.
How about the Greek Omega marking next to "M"? Does it mean it is for Omega Watch Company ?

No, thats the anchor symbol for assayed in Birmingham, England - its on its side though, laying down, so need to turn it 90 degrees to view it properly

There were several cities authorised to assay gold, siver, platinum etc throughout the UK - London, Birmingham, York, Chester ( now closed), Sheffield, Edinburgh, Dublin, etc

So from left to right on your buckle you have

    9 for 9K

    .375 also for 9K - 9 divided by 24

    The Anchor for Birmingham

M - the date letter for 1961 in Birmingham
