The back is strange as you say, right number but would expect no hippo or at least SM on bevel. Even if it turns out to be correct it is a shame as it’s a nice differentiator from later models. I note the movement has the US import mark. Maybe the Norman Morris handled US market models were subtly different. Is there an extract? Maybe this falls into the Orient black hole where no extract can be provided.

These are a minefield, the fake bezels are very good. It’ll be interesting to hear what the owners think.

    - Serial likely puts the watch as a possible -1 or -2
    - outer caseback could be a a -2 or a -3
    - insert, if correct, could be -1 -2 or -3 but I think a better picture would be helpful to see more detail to determine correctness.

Non expert opinion: looks like a -2 but not much but public scholarship on this reference so it’s tough to know all the exceptions

This is tingling my Speedy senses in that it looks similar to what I remember was a scam watch.

Before I waste any time on this, please give me something to think this is a real watch?

That is, where it is being sold, who by? You do not have to be specific, but if its a known dealer, then thats good enough, but if its an ebay seller or from a forum then do all your due diligence on the seller before you worry about the watch.

I speak from bitter experience as a Noob who got scammed.

    I eagerly await some news!

I would not touch that one with a long pole.....that case back does not exist. And the bezel font is strange as well. Excerpt needed; if only it states, that it is not a seamaster..... Anyway, other opinions will surface..... Kind regards. Achim

Extracts from this era are not always available, even for perfectly genuine watches. I share your concerns though.

Is it the "OXG" marking near the 321?

The alignment of the sea-monster engraving is off as well.

I’m less the expert than many, but I don’t like the look of it. Somehow, it looks like a conglomeration of parts and not all-of-a-piece. I’m not comfortable with the bezel or the lume. And the caseback causes me more concern than comfort. BTW, it appears that the caseback may have been cut down and rechamfered, given the way the opener slots look.

Of course, it sounds like the ask is substantially below what I’d expect for a 2915-1.

Still, too many question marks for me.

Can someone opine on the shape of the pusher caps? They don’t look right to me, but I’ve never had a 2915-1 in hand. :(

I've never handled a 2915 so take my opinion with a suitable large grain of salt. However, I've owned and handled a good number of vintage Speedmaster and I agree with @airansun, it's just doesn't look right. The wear, patina and the way the parts hang together just doesn't look as I'd expect for a piece such as this.

Since I've been called, here are my 2 cents.

I second what most of guys have said above. Something doesn't feel right about this watch. And it's one of those watches where every single question mark, even if not a confirmed issue but just a question mark, has a dramatic influence on the value.

My knowledge on 2915s is limited as I don't like the broad arrows so I have never researched on them nor looked for one. Nor do I own one to compare. This being said, I tend to give more and more importance to my gut feeling when I see a watch and here, unfortunately, my gut feeling says nono.

Thanks to all, really cool !
    - I keep you posted on the Extract feedback
    - Yes agree, 2915-1 "for only 75k-85k?::confused2:::(:thumbsdown:"
    - But, if the movement, case, dial, hands were period correct, bezel (assuming aftermarket), caseback (later original) was "added" later, how
much damage is that...justifying only "75k-85k"
Sorry for drifting from facts to the real question, would anyone consider buying this?
