Omega 268 restoration

Hello everyone, I recently acquired this omega 268 (finally, what’s left of it)

She was part of a batch with an exactus (which interested me much more)

So there you go, I see that the watch is in a bad state, but as far as i can see, no part looks blocked

Currently missing, box base, dial, needle, glass and bracelet.

I would like to repair it, but I would need your advice:

  • Are the parts difficult to find?
  • Is the repair worth it?

In which case, if someone is interested in doing what they want with it, I will leave it willingly in exchange for an exactus bracelet from the years 60

Without knowing what case that is (its printed on the case back!) you're not likely to be able to find any info on it.

You're also obviously missing crown + stem, plus a crystal and crystal bezel.

IMO, this is just a 'bare movement, and you're likely to need to spend more getting a new case + dial + hands than it'll be worth in the end. I suggest seeing what you can sell it for on ebay (likely ~$100-$150 depending on how well it runs).

A replacement case is ~$200 minimum. A dial (which may or may not match the case!) is going to be ~$100 minimum. Hands (again, whether they match is in the air!) is at least $50, perhaps less if you just get generic ones. Crown + stem is ~$75 minimum. That movement DEFINITELY needs a good service on top of it.

In the end, you're probably talking about spending ~$5-$600 for something that'll be worth $250 when you're done.

Put the movement on eBay for parts. There’s not enough left to restore.

As someone who restored vintage Omegas. I wouldn’t buy that at any price. There is nothing that I could even use in that movement due to the overall condition.

Use the money towards something better

I have taken into account all your messages, I leave the movement to whoever asks me for it, failing to use it, I will make a happy one.
