Good day all,

I have bought an Omega 2639-12 and I think there is something weird on the dial. I was aware of that before buying (It is still a very beautiful watch). The 3 o’clock marker is bigger-6 o’clock is having a marker even it is a small seconds watch.
What do you think?

I agree with you. The markers have probably been tampered with.

Also swiss made seems a bit off to me, I think it could be a redial.

I'm not sure I've ever seen double lume plots anywhere except for at 12, and I don't think I've seen them on a watch this old. But there's a lot I haven't seen.
I also would have expected a smaller marker at 6 to accommodate the seconds hand.

Yeah, looks to me like the dial was refinished at some point. All of the hardware was removed, but someone lost track of the position of the markers and the top of the dial.

The marker for 12 o’clock was placed at 3 and vice-versa. Why someone put 2 lume dots at 9 is a mystery as well.

Looks like “Swiss Made” was printed over the 6 o’clock marker.

Very sloppy, unprofessional job.

Clearly the dial was turned 90 degrees to the left before it was finished. 😀

That may explain why the 12 marker is at 3 now, but it doesn't explain the double lume dots at 12 and 9, which would be at 9 and 6 if you rotated the dial 90 degrees counter-clockwise as you suggest.

Also the minute hand wouldn't normally extend beyond the indices, so they were put on too close to the centre.

Double lume dots at 9 are probably covering holes, probably same for 12.
9 should have the same index with a single lume well as all of the other numbers except 12 and possibly 6.

Poor redial indeed.

Thanks for your input so far. Do you know the dial size for the 2639 cal 266?

There are so many different dial sizes for that caliber so I am very sorry for asking and not feeling secure enough to take my watch apart

I would suggest just living with it for a while to see if you may perhaps enjoy it as is. If you can't, then just sell it to someone who doesn't mind the condition and buy something better. Not every watch has to be restored.
