Hey guys,

I have this Omega arriving soon:

You'll note that the crown appears to be a clover, whilst I am sure these are supposed to be like this:

1948-Omega-Automatic-2584-Watches-Of-Lancashire-2.jpg.jpg
1948-Omega-Automatic-2584-Watches-Of-Lancashire-11-scaled.jpg

Furthermore the second hand appears to not be original.

Could anyone advise the part numbers for the second hand and / or the crown or have any available that I could buy? The crown that is referenced on cousins appears to be the clover type crown, but this is as far as I am concerned, not correct for this model. Furthermore the second hand shown is only a steel version not black.

Thanks for your help as always 😀

Oliver

Or if you don’t know part reference numbers is there a general term to describe this type of crown to aid my search? Thanks ☺️

Crown might be early enough to be unmarked and whatever you can get from Bestfit or similar would work.

Agree, you should just get a plain unsigned bowler crown. Do you have a serial no. for settling production year, Oliver?

That’s a nice one, looks like it was posted on the « Roman numeral » thread? 😉

If you replace the crown. You need to replace the stem. It was cut for another crown and if too short for the new crown. You will need to order and pay a second s/h fee.

If you don't need it. Can always hand onto it if you buy another Omega bumper or list it on the sales corner.

I would leave the second hand as is. When I restored vintage Omegas. I would add a blued hand if needed for a little contrast and makes it easier to see against the background.

If the case has a reference number. You use that and the caliber number to order a crown from a parts supplier if in stock. If one doesn't have it. I'm sure they can give you the part number.

If you read my first post, I did check two suppliers and they’re both specifying the clover crown. I presume this is what Omega now suggest we use for this model, however through my research I generally only see these with this bowler hat crowns (thank you @Dan S).

Also neither of them reference a black hand for this model and only have a steel coloured second hand listed which of course would not be appropriate for this example.

I probably have a stem already for this calibre but thank you for the tip ☺️ Makes sense to save the shipping! I will likely keep the secondhand as is if a suitable replacement cannot be found. It’s not too bad.

if you know the reference number of the case I can check my bestfit book. Been 10 years, but maybe I can recall how to do it

Current replacement crown is 069ST42023, just for reference.

Yes that is what I found, but it’s the wrong shape 🙁 as I said in my first post they’re specifying this crown which is a clover shape not the bowler hat style.

Yes, because that is Omega's current replacement. The "bowler hat" crown isn't made any longer.

I’m afraid you guess wrong. These hands are absolutely correct for this reference (apart from the second hand)

I would need to check tomorrow as this looks like a 550 series stem to me but I think the 330 stem thread is the same. This one is used and I'd need to see the seal but, as it's old, you couldn't guarantee water resistance with it. Apologies for the poor photo.

Is it what you're looking for? Diameter is about 5mm.

Cheers, Chris
