Omega 2531.80 Rubber Strap

Hello I was looking into getting a rubber strap for my 2531.80.

Now I can either go the OEM route straight from Omega, which they still offer for sale. It’s very expensive though with the strap and clasp running about $600.

But I was curious if anyone has used the newer (2018 - present) Seamaster rubber strap and buckle on a 2531.80? Does it fit at all?

Really looking to stick with Omega only straps.

Hi @SmokeStackMan

I stumbled across this photo on Reddit and according to the OP, the rubber from the new SMPc fits the 2531.80. Not sure if I’m allowed to post external links here so I’ll just attach the photo.

Hi,
I am wearing my 2254 on such a rubber strap. I already wrote on this topic before on another threads.
Bottom line is, the hole placement is not 100% perfect and you have to force the springbars, so could be a bit challenging. I also dont know how it affects the strength of the springbars. I change mine fairly often and so far had no problems.
I hope it helps!
Cheers!

I'd purchase the original one. The 2531.80 is much thinner than the current generation (2018) Seamaster.

I think Omega is obliged to supply parts & straps for a model for at least 30 years after its introduction? I was informed of this by a US OB, when I expressed worry about whether a model-unique limited edition strap will still be available years from now, or I should stockpile them now.

They mentioned that within that 30 year-window, the manufacturer will make a new strap to fulfill your order if they don't have 1 in storage ready to ship. The 2531.80 was introduced in 1993/1994, so we're nearing that 30 year mark. I'd personally go for the original strap that was designed for the 2531, as they Omega may no longer supply these in 3-4 years from now.

Whereas you'll still have decades yet to buy an OEM rubber strap for the 2018 generation SMP 300.

Thanks guys. I’m going to go with the OEM 2531.80 strap and clasp I think.

Hope it’s comfortable at its price point.

Did you ever get an OEM rubber strap for your 2531.80? I have one and thinking about doing the same. I'd love to see pics if you ended up purchasing one of these straps from Omega.

I just got my 2531.80 30 mins ago. It was an ebay that failed authentication due to the band. Guy just put a blu sharp on it and I am fine with for the price I paid. It came with some omega band parts, and all the paperwork.

So here is mine with a black nylon band.
