Omega 2500 interchangeability with ETA 2892A2

Hello everyone

I needed to change a broken rachet wheel (31020) on an Omega 2500, so knowing (or at least thiking) that the base movement is a 2892A2, I went ahead and ordered the part from the bay, which arrived in an original ETA package (see photo). Then, to my surprise, I discovered that that it is not compatible (see photo, exactly same size but slightly smaller square hole).

First, I want to share this with others, so you will not repeat my mistake.
Secondly, for my own knowledge, shouldn't there be an interchangeability between those parts and calibers ? What did I do wrong ?

You assumed that the parts would be the same, and they are not. Just because one movement is "based" on another doesn't mean that all the parts are the same.

The ratchet wheel on the 2500 is from the 1120, which again is based on the 2892, but is not a 2892...

722112031020 is the part number you need.

Thank you Archer !

I was actually mislead by what I normally would consider a reliable source - Ofrei. See here:
