Been a long time since I've had one of these in hand, but I'm 95% sure aluminum.

Yes it's aluminium. I have had that model for over 20 years. It is such a cool watch.

Here is mine. Such a good piece. I remember now that I had a new bezel made from SS many years ago. My original aluminium was in bad shape and so a new one was made. IIRC it was something like a watch case factory that a friend worked at remade it.

Seems the consensus is divided here. A few votes for Aluminum and one for steel from a qualified omega watchmaker. Hmm....

All the ones I’ve had have all been aluminium bezel! I’ve had 3 of these skin divers over the years as well as a complete NOS case a few years ago and more recently a NOS Bezel… in my experience they’ve all been aluminium.

Any advice on how to acquire such friends? 😁

I'd love some steel bezels

Is your friend interested in making another SS bezel? If so, how much?

That was over 20 years ago. I have lost touch with them now.
