These 9kt Omega cases are usually UK production and not Swiss. Therefore it doesn't have a Swiss case reference. You can compare to other Swiss references from this period with manual wind calibre 283's to find something similar, but probably not exactly the same.

So what you have I'd describe as: Manual wind 283 in a probable UK production 9kt case with a waffle dial

UK produced cases generally have a full set of hallmarks - even for 9ct gold - but I believe other commonwealth countries, like Australia, often used the simple 9ct marking for these nationally-produced non-Omega gold cases.

Thank you! This matches what I was told in an Omegashop. They told me that the watch was made in Switzerland, but to avoid the customs costs, the imprint was omitted for trade in the UK and Australia.

Almost, but not quite. The movement and dial were made in Switzerland and shipped un-cased to other countries, where the movement was installed into a locally made case.

I’ve seen that style of hallmark on Australian made watch cases. There are not many countries that allow 9K gold to be sold as “solid gold”, and Australia is one of them.

Ah, yes I knew I'd missed something out and thought it might be the Australia connection
