Hi All, looking for some help identifying if this watch is correct given its age, I really don't know anything about watches this old , & the guy selling says its from 1918 , I know it's a hall marked silver Dennison silver case & that's about it . The seller is looking for £250.00 & any thoughts or information greatly appreciated . image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

The serial on the movement puts it in more the 1933-34 range.

You'll have to wait for one of the experts to chime in. I admire these early examples but I don't possess a lot of knowledge of them.

If you need me to decode the hallmarks message me. It should be able to date the case.

Thanks very much for the offer , I've googled the hallmarks I think there for Birmingham 1932 . So it's definitely not a trench watch .

FYI that’s radium. I’d not open the face. Bad dust to inhale.

"Trench" refers to the type of case, it doesn't imply that the watch dates to the first world war. It's an attractive piece and £250 isn't out of line. I think you already understand that it's a Dennison cased example. That's correct but not all Omega collectors would go for it. If you like the looks, then go for it ... but let me second the warning about opening it up without a fume cupboard or at least a mask.

Thanks jimmyd & foo2rama , the warning about the radium on the dial has been noted .I wouldn't be opening up the case myself if I by the watch . Do you think the hands have been re lumed at some point also, as they don't look the same colour as the hour markings .I have done some searches on the web & there isn't much to compare the watch to , but there is one for sale in the states currently for $1850.00 ,& looks exactly the same .

It's 80 odd years old... the lume in the hands likely crumbled and they've been refilled. Not a huge problem but I've seen better matches. As for the price of the other one, first, you can "ask" any number you want - it doesn't mean you'll get it. Second, a lot depends on local markets, even in the age of the interweb.

The movement is genuine (cal 26,5).
