Pffft, that's easy to explain - there's a logo like this on it: Ω. :p

There's been a rash of high quality buckles coming out of Asia the last couple of years. Some of these have been cast from originals, and have correct markings. In my mind, any buckle on eBay is one of these until proven otherwise.

No way would I pay that kind of money for a gold buckle,

Now that, I didn't know. I've seen those Indian made gold plated ones everywhere on ebay (like $10 each, buy 5 get one free) but I had no idea 18K examples with correct markings were floating around.

Some of the fakes have even been cast in silver and then plated in gold. They are then sold by "reputable dealers" , who accurately like to describe the composition as evidence of their being genuine vintage. :cautious:

Not sure that the markings are correct at all. "750" doesn't signify anything. The "MG" is a logo I've seen on later (1970's and up) buckles. Whether MG is a Swiss company or not, I don't know.

Swiss markings on a buckle would be more like "0,750 18K". I think the middle buckle of the three shown above could possibly be real.

Omega used several Swiss contractors to produce these and all had slightly different hallmarks. Gold plated ones would say "Plaque G". Steel would be "Acier Inox". Spaces between words are frequently missing on fakes made by those not familiar with Western languages.

US made plated or steel buckles just say "Omega" on the back. These usually have no logo at all. I have one solid gold US made buckle that says "Omega 14K" on the top and "Ω 14K" on the tang.

    Hope this helps,

Hoi's buckle is the real deal as far as I can tell from that one picture. It should be in 18k gold.

Don't trust wild eBay prices like that since they made bidders anonymous. Too much of a chance for shill bidding. There's no way somebody actually paid $600 for that buckle. Bet it gets relisted in a few weeks.

While I think that buckle is real, something seems fishy about the listing and bidding

    Take care,

Bill Shaine bought this box for more than $660 and then added the insert later. Rest assured he will not let this watch go for below what he paid for it.

The buckle was listed for $100, the seller ended it early and relisted for $600. If that means anything... It is fishy, but sometime buyers make mistakes in regard what they think an item is worth. The big triangle 165.024 that sold for $9000 ended up being an actual sale. I myself have over payed a couple of hundred bucks because it was the first time I saw a certain watch on ebay only to later see three listed within one month, lol
