Hi all,

New member here 🖖. I purchased an Omega 168.045. It has a cal 751. Could you please see the attached photos and video?

I have some questions:

Does it look all correct, hands, dial, crystal, movement?

When I pull the crown, the seconds hand keep moving. It doesn’t have hacking. Is it correct?

When I set the time backwards, the seconds hand slips backwards just a few seconds. Is this normal?

Is it OK to set the time backwards or should I set it only forward?

When I set the time backwards, the day changes but the date stays the same. The date wants to change but it clicks back. Is it normal?

I can set the day by setting the hands forward and backwards, but I can set the date always forward, either by setting the time forward or pulling the crown. Is this correct?

Thanks, cheers 🍻

IIRC, the difference in the way the date and day setting works allows you to set them independently. So it's deliberate.

You can set time forward or backwards. The little movement of seconds hand is not hurting anything that I’m aware of.

Have you googled setting day/date for cal 751?
You will find quite a lot including this video.

Hope it helps.

Everything looks right to me, not an expert on this ref though.

correct, this Omega series of movements doesn't hack.

That is not uncommon on watches at all, you'll get that on quite a few mechanical watches.

Either way is fine.

This is normal. This lets you change them out of sync. If they changed together in both directions, you'd never have a way of getting day of week and date sync'ed back up if they fell out.

Yep, thats correct. You get day of week by going back and forth around midnight, setting time, then getting the date set by pulling out until the date is correct.

Watch looks to be functioning normally. However, if the hands are as difficult to turn as it looks in the video, a service is in order.

Here is an instruction brochure from Omega on the day-date movements:

Lovely Connie with the integrated bracelet. As others have said, get it serviced and read up on it. Then enjoy. The more you play with mechanical watches, the more you'll learn.
