Hi folks,
i am going to restore the insert of a baby ploprof and i am not sure if i should relume or not. 2 considerations on why i am not sure: first it would be "weird" for a watch of this age to have a shiny superluminova lumed bezel, and second because in that case i should probably also relume the dial. What would you do?

I’ve restored inserts of Seamaster 300’s. I wouldn’t bother with the dial. A slip or drop by accident and you ruin the dial

Yes this i why i would avoid to touch the diali, but then having the lume only on insert is pointless...but...

Depends how bad the insert is. Didn’t post an image.

There are luminous paints which make it easier to do and a fine tip brush

I'm on vacation and I don't have the watch with me, but it came to mind because I was talking to a guy I met who was wearing a Shom, and he mentioned that he had redone the insert. Mine is in pretty bad shape, to the point that I don't wear the watch because the insert has completely come off. Most of the black has faded, and the white numbers aren't in very good condition either.

Need to be careful. They made inserts in a variety of ways. Some had indents for for all the units. Some just at main points and rest painted. Sand the back to clean up and you remove all the minute markers.

Jeez, you can't even tell that it's a replacement. Thanx for the advice i already contacted and ordered an insert from him, can't wait to receive it. 😉

Great. He does good work that I think it's tasteful and stays true to what this watch is.

I originally bought this watch to flip but once I put hands on it I knew I would never sell it. Especially after the insert.

I got new hands on mine too for the looks and still have the original ones. About the insert i asked him not to put lume to match the dial and considering that the original tritium would not glow anymore. Is he spanish if you know?
