I was asked to try and get this bezel back in order i while ago.

It was in a pretty poor state with the printed indexes lost from the 40- to the 50-marking.

The glue on the back had turned to gue and most of the black paint was gone.

A careful clean using white spirit and the sticky glue came off and the black paint. All the intact minute markings survived the cleaning process so I let them be so the insert would be as original as possible.

This version has milled numbers so the old lume in these was removed and replaced with a mixture of lume/paint.

A cliché to print new minute markers was made and the insert was placed in a jig, masked of the ok areas, and then reprinted the areas missing indexes.

The back of the numbers got a protective layer of varnish and was finally painted black.

End result:

Next up is making a complete replacement insert for a watch that is missing its insert. 😀

Brilliant! Out of curiosity, do you make your own printing plates, or do you outsource it?

Beautiful restoration- very much In the vein of fine art restoration- keep as much original as possible, infill, stabilize, consolidate.

have you figured out a way to fill and stabilize cracked bezels?

Now if you can do this for Zodiac and Bulova bezels.....😗

I make them "in house" using a fiber laser!

Brilliant restoration. I am amazed at how many craftsmen are in many communities, but especially this one. By craftsmen I mean exactly that, there is a world of difference between a craftsman and a skilled tradesman. You, sir, are at the top level.

Nice work!

While we're on the subject: Is it possible to polish up the plastic(?) surface of the bezel with a Polywatch?

Can't describe how good it feels seeing a restoration like this, just seeing that it's possible

This is really impressive, did`nt know it is possible.

I have a ruined Tissot tachymeter-bezel waiting in my drawer to be restored, may I sent it to you?
