Dear Omega Forum,

I'm looking for the original dial colour for this watch, if someone has a catalogue picture of the dial when it was new would really help. It was from a state sale and was looking at getting it restored or just leave the dial as it is because the rest of the watch is in full working order.

Kind regards

Chris

My advice: don´t touch it, you will make it worse
enjoy it in the state it is with the patina built up over the decades

The original dial could would have been very close to what you see.
Any attempt to "restore" the dial will ruin it's attractiveness and originality (and value).

It's a nice watch with potential. Just find a watchmaker capable of doing a sympathetic service.
Do NOT send it to Omega for restoration though.

Thank you, for you all your advice. I agree it's a nice dial and happy to leave it as it is with its original patina state.

If that watch was on an exhibit table beside a sparkling re-dial that mimicked the original dial I would look right past the re-dial to admire the vintage original.

As far as examples go this is a pretty well preserved 1940s 30T2 dial. I had this same model in the past, and the beauty is in the mirrored numerals. It doesn't have any scratches from what I can see, just a relatively heavy patina. Do not restore it, just have it serviced and enjoy it. If you don't like it, sell it as I am sure there will be many that are interested.

The dial lis really beautiful and doesn't look terribly damaged to consider having it restored IMHO. Try to concentrate the effort on sourcing a correct crown.

Hi There, this is next part of the project, do you have an example of the correct period crown. Thanks Chris

Very nice find, I agree with the above: don’t touch it, just have it serviced and enjoy.
About the crown, I have a similar one, just a few years older: the original crown on these was flat and unsigned:
