Omega 14707 restoration: advice

Hi everyone,

This is my first post on the forum, though I hope it won't be my last. Similarly, this is my first Omega, but I hope it won't be my last either.

My dad recently gave me this Omega, but without the gold case, which he sold a long time ago because he thought no one would ever wear the watch (yeah, I know). Luckily, I do have the original crown and the crystal. My goal is to restore it as closely as possible to its original condition, so I have a few questions:

1) Box: Is it easy to find an original gold box? Or would you recommend looking for a similar one that works? If it's too expensive, I'd consider a gold-plated or steel one.

2) Dial: As you can see, it’s in very poor condition. I’d rather not paint it, but I’m not sure what the best course of action is in cases like this.

I’ll also have them review that feature, since it hasn’t been used in a long time. Any other recommendations are more than welcome.

Thank you very much.

Welcome. Finding a gold case will be very hard. I dont’t see much possibilities to make this project work to be honest

Welcome

Save this one in a nice place or display and buy you a completely original and working vintage Omega (early 1960's) gentleman's watch to wear.

Many, Many threads on the Forum to look at to get an idea what is out there to buy.
