Any service history.......Chrono pushers show corrosion. Some green slime/grease in places on the movement. Should definitely be serviced if you buy it.

Apparently, the seller's description of the watch as "mint" must be referring to the color of the corrosion.

Pretty sure those hands are original - they aren't in great shape - not that I disagree that there is indeed a color difference. hands.JPG

The hands often age differently than the dial lum. It is not taken from the same batch when made. Lum for hands is a very thin consistency. The watch looks good and is priced where it should be. And that's more likely just grime than corrosion. All watches have it if not cleaned regularly.

I have the same reference, with a vintage 1171 bracelet and endlinks. Overall it is in better physical condition, although my dial is the later one (1977) that doesn't have the short S, and my hands are not original. For $3K I guess I would want it cleaned and serviced, but maybe that is expecting too much these days. Figure another $800 for the service, and another $400 for a bracelet if you want one.

Concern is that the minute and hour hands have aged differently to the chrono hand. Look to get a reduction due to it needing service before wearing. Should get 300 USD reduction.

Is it just me or on the right hand as we look at it (30min) chrono is the 2 lower than the 0? Ever so slightly.

Maybe my eyes are just deceiving me.

Nearly every vintage watch sold could use service. And 800 is very high. You can get it for half that on a speedmaster. It's a solid watch. 2500 to 3500 is a fair range. The patina is a plus. Try to buy closer to 2500.

The dial lume looks like it's starting to fade from some markers, like the 6-o'clock - overall it's pretty nice, but $3,000 should buy you a much more interesting example than this one IMO

The use of "mint" to describe non-mint pieces really irks me.

Dial is correct for a 76 (small "S"). Hands are flaking. You can do better for that price. image.jpg
    My 145.022-76 purchased from @abrod520
Interestingly my dial tends towards green has correct brief lumenesnce after light exposure. And non puffy lume.

I use a good independent and my last Omega chrono (Speedy Mk2) was £180 - no parts, just a clean and oiling. Now, I have a good relationship with them (even though I gave them a pin lever movement to work on) putting two or three watches through them a month ... so maybe that's why I do get keen prices. They are not specialists just really experienced watchmakers.

My dial looks pretty much like this - greenish non-puffy lume, but I have a later -76 with the larger S

There's a huge difference between a clean and oiling and a proper full service.
Do your watchmakers fully dismantle all components and put them through a six stage ultrasonic cleaning process, inspect every part under a microscope and replace any parts that look even slightly worn. Do they then re-assemble the movement using the correct oils and greases and then monitor the timekeeping in different positions for a week and go the extra mile to return your watch running within omegas specs?
    For £180 I doubt it.
If they do please let us UK members know who they are.

Yes. That's what cleaning and service is.

Obviously, parts are extra if they are worn to the point of replacing.

I think I know who you're referring to and he's now only accepting work from previous customers. I was quoted £210 + parts where needed, for a 861 (MKii Speedmaster) last week.
